LGBT History Month is Coming!
09.02.2019 – Senedd, Cardiff Bay
After a record breaking Big Weekend, here at Pride Cymru we’re getting ready for our action-packed LGBT History Month event. Save Saturday, February 9th in your diaries because you’re all invited.
This year is all about how history and activism are linked. You can expect a talks and panels on how LGBT+ people have built history, and how with this knowledge, we can shape our world today.
Amongst others, Professor Jeffrey Weeks will talk about how he left the Welsh Valleys and helped to start the Gay Liberation Front in London; Lisa Power will talk about founding Stonewall, whose 30th anniversary is in 2019, from the ashes of Section 28; Professor Richard Sandells will talk about the historical erasure and rediscovery of the Dancing Marquess of Anglesey and Shash Appan will discuss trans history in Hindu culture. Other speakers include top Welsh politicians and a diversity of LGBT+ activists.
The event is happening at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay and tickets are free. Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter for the ticket link which will be available very soon. Spaces will be limited, so you’ll need to be quick.
As always, we encourage young people to attend, and you don’t have to be LGBT+ to enjoy the day.
