Our Annual Celebration
Key to growth of the Pride Cymru event is engagement with the LGBT+ community in Wales and the wider community, to improve Community Relations through increasing understanding, visibility and respect. We actively seek engagement with sub groups of the LGBT community, include the Trans and bi community – along with the older person’s community and those living with disability, or those requiring support with faith and cultural issues.
Pride Cymru seeks to work within all areas of the LGBT+ community in Wales and by co-production , participation , engagement and partnering with other organisations has a programme of projects aimed at supporting specifically the LGBT community but also aimed at developing links with the wider community.
Projects include creation of a number of events which are accessible to all and staged within mainstream environments with the aim of increasing a greater understanding and respect leading to a reduction in hate crime.
Health & Wellbeing
Other streams of work include looking at ways to improve health and wellbeing through raising awareness of LGBT focused information and services. Additionally finding ways to increase interaction of the LGBT community with public sector and other services where traditionally there has been a reluctance or stigma attached to engaging with these bodies.
Working with the youth LGBT community supporting young people through issues such as ‘coming out’ and ‘homophobic bullying’, partnering with agencies and professionals, to signpost or advise where professional services can be engaged with. Developing young people specific programmes that educate and raise awareness but also provide a developmental tool for young people, promoting the opportunities for all to volunteer and gain valid experience by being part of Pride Cymru .
If you have any ideas of how we can further support and engage with the community or partner on a project, please get in touch with us.
